Description
Carvone is a cyclic ketone. Its declared technical function covers the roles of fragrance, perfuming agent and flavouring. Ingredients of these categories are incorporated into cosmetic formulations to provide the characteristic olfactory profile of the finished product, help mask intrinsic odors of the base or modulate sensory perception during use.
Under Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 on cosmetic products, this ingredient is regulated in Annex III, reference 333, which corresponds to the list of substances that cosmetic products must not contain except in accordance with the restrictions laid down. No specific numerical maximum concentration limit has been set in the normative text applicable to this entry. The literal condition laid down indicates that "The presence of the substance shall be indicated in the list of ingredients referred to in Article 19(1), point (g), when its concentration exceeds: — 0,001 % in leave-on products — 0,01 % in rinse-off products".
