Description

Cinnamomum Cassia Leaf Oil is a volatile essential oil obtained by steam distillation of the leaves and twigs of the Cinnamomum cassia (L.) tree, of the Lauraceae family. In cosmetics it is used with the technical functions of denaturant, fragrance and perfuming. Ingredients with a fragrance and perfuming function provide the olfactory profile of the finished product. It is also commercially identified as Cassia Oil, Cassia Leaf Oil and Cinnamon Oil Chinense.

Under Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 on cosmetic products, this ingredient is listed in Annex III, reference 348, which groups the substances whose use in cosmetic products is permitted under specific restrictions. The conditions set in the regulatory entry state literally "The presence of the substance shall be indicated in the list of ingredients referred to in Article 19(1), point (g), when its concentration exceeds: — 0,001 % in leave-on products — 0,01 % in rinse-off products". This means that the ingredient is subject to a nominal declaration obligation in the list of ingredients when the indicated concentration thresholds are exceeded, differentiated according to whether the products are those that remain in prolonged contact with the skin or rinse-off products. The regulatory entry has no associated CMR classification, and no maximum concentration limit for use or restriction by cosmetic product category is specified.

The information presented is for technical reference only and does not constitute a recommendation for use or an efficacy claim.
