Description
Isoeugenyl Acetate is an organic compound belonging to the class of acetate esters, as follows from its chemical name 2-Methoxy-4-prop-1-enylphenyl acetate. In cosmetic nomenclature it is assigned the technical function of perfuming (PERFUMING), a category that groups substances used to provide or modify the olfactory profile of a finished product.
Under Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, this ingredient appears in Annex III, reference 370, corresponding to the substances whose use in cosmetic products is subject to restrictions. The entry sets the following applicable condition: "The presence of the substance shall be indicated in the list of ingredients referred to in Article 19(1), point (g), when its concentration exceeds: — 0,001 % in leave-on products — 0,01 % in rinse-off products". The provision contemplates two product categories differentiated by their mode of use —products that remain on the skin (leave-on) and products that are rinsed off after application (rinse-off)— with different concentration thresholds for each for the purposes of individual indication in the list of ingredients.
