Description
1-Bromopropane; n-Propyl bromide is an alkyl halide, specifically a short-chain, linear bromoalkane in which a bromine atom is attached to the terminal carbon of a propyl chain. The corresponding CosIng entry does not assign this substance a classified cosmetic technical function, so no defined functional role is attributed to it within the regulatory framework for cosmetic products in the European Union.
Under Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 on cosmetic products, this substance appears in Annex II, reference 1139, which corresponds to the list of substances prohibited in cosmetic products marketed in the European Union. Inclusion in Annex II means that the substance cannot form part of the composition of cosmetic products made available on the Community market. In addition, the substance has a harmonized classification as toxic for reproduction category 1B (Reprotoxic Cat. 1B), a category that, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP), is subject to the provisions of Article 15 of the Cosmetics Regulation concerning CMR substances. No maximum concentration conditions, product-type restrictions or additional labelling warnings are established, given the prohibitive nature of the entry.
Substances incorporated into Annex II of the Cosmetics Regulation constitute a negative list whose regulatory purpose is to delimit which materials are not admissible in the formulation of finished cosmetic products intended for the consumer in the territory of the European Union, regardless of the product type or concentration considered. The information presented is for technical reference only and does not constitute a recommendation for use or an efficacy claim.
