Description

4-Amino-3-fluorophenol is an aromatic organic compound belonging to the family of halogenated aminophenols, characterized by the simultaneous presence of an amino group and a hydroxyl group attached to a benzene ring, together with a fluorine substituent at a position adjacent to the amino group.

Under the European Cosmetic Products Regulation, 4-Amino-3-fluorophenol appears in Annex II under reference 1242, an annex intended to gather the substances whose presence in cosmetic products is prohibited. The substance also has a CMR classification as Carcinogenic Category 1B under the European framework for the classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures. Inclusion in Annex II entails the prohibition of the use of the substance as an ingredient in cosmetic products marketed within the European Union, with no authorized maximum concentration values, specific conditions of use, admitted product types or particular labelling warnings associated with a permitted cosmetic use. The entries of Annex II are general in nature and apply regardless of the type of cosmetic product considered.

Substances included in Annex II do not allow deliberate incorporation into final cosmetic formulations, so this entry is not associated with an authorized use profile in the development of cosmetic products. The information presented is for technical reference only and does not constitute a recommendation for use or an efficacy claim.
