Description
Nickel(II) sulfite [1]; Nickel tellurium trioxide [2]; Nickel tellurium tetraoxide [3]; Molybdenum nickel hydroxide oxide phosphate [4] designates a set of inorganic nickel compounds comprising a sulfite salt, two ternary oxides of nickel and tellurium with different stoichiometry, and a mixed phosphate of molybdenum, nickel, hydroxide and oxide. As a chemical class, inorganic nickel compounds are salts and oxides of a transition metal. For these compounds, no technical function is recorded as assigned.
The four compounds are listed in Annex II of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 on cosmetic products, under reference 1461. Annex II of that regulation corresponds to the list of substances whose use is prohibited in cosmetic products within the European Union. Entry 1461 jointly groups Nickel(II) sulfite, Nickel tellurium trioxide, Nickel tellurium tetraoxide and Molybdenum nickel hydroxide oxide phosphate, without establishing differentiated conditions of use among the four grouped compounds or specific limitations by product category. The four compounds share the CMR classification of Carcinogen category 1A, applicable to each of them individually within the same entry reference.
Since these compounds have no technical function assigned in the cosmetic regulatory framework, their functional role in formulation is not defined. The information presented is for technical reference only and does not constitute a recommendation for use or an efficacy claim.
