Description

Nickel triuranium decaoxide is an inorganic compound of the mixed oxide type, formed by the combination of nickel and uranium in an oxide matrix. It belongs to the class of complex metal oxides.

Under Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 on cosmetic products, this substance is included in Annex II under reference 1451. Annex II of the Regulation corresponds to the list of substances whose use is prohibited in cosmetic products marketed in the European Union. The substance also holds the harmonized classification as a Carcinogenic Cat. 1A substance under Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP), a category that identifies substances recognized as carcinogenic to humans, based largely on human evidence. The listing in Annex II entails the prohibition of intentional incorporation in any category of finished cosmetic product, with no exceptions as to maximum concentration, authorized product type or labelling warnings, since there is no permitted threshold of use.

The substances listed in Annex II of the Cosmetics Regulation are not part of the repertoire of ingredients available to the cosmetic industry within the European Union market, and are therefore not associated with typical uses in legally marketable formulations in that scope. No other additional cosmetic regulations or complementary restrictions are identified in the available data. The information presented is for technical reference only and does not constitute a recommendation for use or an efficacy claim.
