Description
DIAZOLIDINYL UREA is a substituted heterocyclic urea, that is, an organic compound structurally derived from urea whose molecular architecture incorporates a heterocyclic ring, according to the official chemical description recorded in the reference nomenclature. Within the cosmetic classification, this ingredient is associated with the technical function of preservative (preservative). Preservatives are a functional category of ingredients incorporated into cosmetic formulations for the general purpose of limiting the development of microorganisms in the finished product, contributing to the conservation of the microbiological integrity of the formula throughout its commercial shelf life and the period following first opening of the container.
Under Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 on cosmetic products, this ingredient is listed in Annex V, reference 46, a list that groups the preservatives permitted for incorporation into cosmetic products within the scope of the harmonized European legislation. The Annex V entry sets a maximum authorized concentration in the ready-to-use cosmetic product of "0.5%". The applicable cosmetic restriction is formally identified as V/46, corresponding to the annex letter and the reference number assigned to the substance within that list. This quantitative limit is the literal condition recorded in the regulatory record of the reference inventory for the use of the substance as a preservative in cosmetic formulations placed on the market in the territory of the European Union.
