Description

PHENOXYISOPROPANOL is an aromatic alcoholic ether. It is classified with a dual technical function as preservative (preservative) and solvent (solvent). Preservatives are substances incorporated into cosmetic formulations to inhibit microbial development during the shelf life of the product, while solvents act as vehicles that facilitate the dissolution of other components of the formula.

Under Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 on cosmetic products, PHENOXYISOPROPANOL is listed in Annex V, reference 43, the list of authorized preservatives. In addition, the ingredient is referenced in Annex III, entry 54, which groups substances subject to specific restrictions on use. The maximum authorized concentration in the finished cosmetic product is "1.0%". Its use is limited exclusively to rinse-off products, a category described literally as "Only for rinse-off products". No additional mandatory labelling warnings or specific conditions are established beyond those cited above. The substance is not classified as CMR (carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction) according to the applicable harmonized criteria.

In this case, the scope of application is limited to rinse-off products in accordance with Annex V/43. The information presented is for technical reference only and does not constitute a recommendation for use or an efficacy claim.
