Description
Linalyl Acetate is an organic compound corresponding to the acetic ester of a tertiary alcohol. Its declared technical function in the CosIng inventory is FRAGRANCE, a category that groups ingredients incorporated into formulations for the purpose of providing aroma to the finished product or masking the inherent odor of other raw materials present in the formula.
The substance is listed in Annex III of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, with reference 337. The literal text of the applicable conditions recorded in the regulatory entry states: "The presence of the substance shall be indicated in the list of ingredients referred to in Article 19(1), point (g), when its concentration exceeds: — 0,001 % in leave-on products — 0,01 % in rinse-off products." The applicable cosmetic restriction is identified as III/337. The thresholds indicated in the text differentiate between leave-on products, with a value of 0,001 %, and rinse-off products, with a value of 0,01 %, and are associated with the obligation of literal mention in the list of ingredients provided for in Article 19(1)(g) of the Regulation itself.
Ingredients classified with a FRAGRANCE function are incorporated into cosmetic formulations to provide an olfactory profile to the finished product or to modulate the odor of other raw materials present in the formula. The information presented is for technical reference only and does not constitute a recommendation for use or an efficacy claim.
