Description
DIETHYLAMINO HYDROXYBENZOYL HEXYL BENZOATE is an organic compound of the family of aromatic benzoates, structured on a benzoic ester core with hydroxy and diethylamino substituents and a hexyl chain. It belongs to the class of organic ultraviolet filters, a group of molecules designed to absorb electromagnetic radiation in the UV region of the spectrum. Its technical functions declared in CosIng are light stabilizer, UV absorber and UV filter. This type of ingredient is used in cosmetics to attenuate the fraction of ultraviolet radiation that reaches the treated surface.
Under Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, this ingredient appears in Annex VI of permitted UV filter substances, under reference 28. The maximum authorized concentration in the finished cosmetic product is "10%". A literal purity condition also applies: "Di-n-hexyl phthalate (DnHexP) as an unavoidable trace impurity in DHHB must not exceed 10 ppm". No additional mandatory labelling warnings or specific restrictions by product type are established under this Annex VI entry. The substance is not classified as CMR under the categories of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 recorded in CosIng. The applicable cosmetic restriction is identified as VI/28.
