Description
DROMETRIZOLE TRISILOXANE is an organosilicon organic compound that combines in its structure a drometrizole-type unit, a benzotriazole derivative, with a trisiloxane chain. As such, it falls within the family of benzotriazole-based UV filters functionalized with siloxane groups. Its declared technical function is that of light stabilizer, UV absorber and UV filter. Ingredients with these functions are incorporated into cosmetic formulations to act on ultraviolet radiation and, in the case of light stabilizers, to help preserve the integrity of other photosensitive components present in the formula against light exposure.
Under Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 on cosmetic products, this ingredient is listed in Annex VI, reference 16, which corresponds to the list of ultraviolet filters authorized for use in cosmetic products placed on the market of the European Union. The maximum authorized concentration in the finished product is "15%". The entry is not associated with a CMR classification under categories 1A, 1B or 2 of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008. The applicable cosmetic restriction identifies the ingredient under reference VI/16, in line with its status as an authorized ultraviolet filter within the aforementioned annex.
