Description
Polyacrylamidomethyl Benzylidene Camphor is an organic polymer derived from benzylidene camphor, with acrylamidomethyl units integrated into the polymer chain. Its technical functions are UV filter, UV absorber and light stabilizer. Ingredients of this category are used in cosmetics to absorb energy in the ultraviolet range and provide photostability to the formulation, as well as to contribute to the protection of the skin or hair against solar radiation within the set of filters authorized by European cosmetic regulation.
Under Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 on cosmetic products of the European Union, this ingredient is listed in Annex VI, dedicated to the permitted ultraviolet filters, under reference 11. The maximum authorized concentration in the ready-for-use cosmetic product is "6%". The applicable cosmetic restriction is coded as VI/11, referring to the position of the ingredient within the annex of ultraviolet filters permitted on the European Union cosmetic market. Annex VI of the Regulation groups the substances that the European Union specifically admits as ultraviolet filters in cosmetic formulations, functioning as a positive list of this type of ingredient.
