Description
Polysilicone-15 is a siloxane polymer. In this entry the declared technical function corresponds to light stabilizer, UV absorber and UV filter: ingredients classified as UV filters are substances intended to absorb, reflect or scatter ultraviolet radiation when incorporated into cosmetic products, while light stabilizers and UV absorbers, in a broader sense, are used to attenuate the incidence of ultraviolet radiation on the formulation or on its components. The entry is also identified by the denomination POLYSILICONE-15.
Under Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 on cosmetic products, Polysilicone-15 is listed in Annex VI—the list of permitted UV filters—under reference 26. The maximum authorized concentration in the ready-to-use cosmetic product is "10%". Inclusion in Annex VI means that the substance is within the positive list of UV filters permitted in the European Union, and its use must comply with the concentration limit cited. For this entry, no additional mandatory labelling warnings, supplementary conditions of use, product type restrictions or classification as a CMR substance are recorded in the terms of Annex VI, ref. 26 itself.
